WHAT PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE?

MOST of those enquiring about learning to fly ask whether we offer any packages. The answer is yes - and they are listed below. To spread the load you can also pay by monthly standing order and an account will be kept of your balance until such time as you finish your course. Package charges are non-refundable but protect you from increases in the flying rate, e.g. due to rising fuel costs.

 INTRODUCTORY GROUNDSCHOOL

Introductory package comprising of aircraft familiarisation, airfield awareness and club procedures, that's exercises 1 & 2 in the syllabus and more, along with basic Principles of Flight, Air Law and Human Performance taking 10 hours.

 CONTINUATION GROUNDSCHOOL

Continuation package of Meteorology, Navigation, Aircraft Technical & Principles of Flight, Flight Performance, Radio taking 15 hours.

 THE FLYING START

2 hours dual flying instruction with briefings beforehand and debriefings afterwards. Expect to experience effects and further effects of the aerodynamic controls, power, flaps, trim then learn to fly straight and level at different speeds.

Plus, free, a Private Pilots Log Book to record your flying hours, aircraft types, airfields visited and flying training exercises.

Plus, free, two all day breakfasts at the Pilots Mess, the pilot friendly airfield cafe.

Plus, free, club membership covering the 2 hours flying and giving you access to all the club's facilities.

 AIM FOR SOLO

Here's a challenge; can you go solo in 15 hours? With determination and application you can do it.

15 hours dual flying instruction with briefings beforehand and debriefings afterwards. We aim to fly all the basic handling exercises, straight and level, climbing, descending, turning, then fly round the circuit pattern to develop your skills in take off and landing. When these are mastered you'll be sent on your first solo!

Plus, free, one years full flying membership giving you access to all the club's facilities including flying instruction, ground briefings, computers to log on to weather and planning information and use of the lounge as a social and meeting place.

Plus, free, 2 hours ground school tutorial covering exercises 1 & 2 in the syllabus including aircraft familiarisation, emergency drills, preparation for and action after flight.

 SECOND PILOT'S COURSE

Want your loved one /friend/relative to feel more involved in your hobby? Would you like them to share the enjoyment? What would happen if for some reason you were unable to land the plane?

This course is designed to teach the minimum knowledge required to fly and land an aircraft.

It includes:-

8 hours of Ground School, 8 hours of Flying Training with briefings before and debriefings afterwards, Free membership for the duration of the course. There are no exams.

 THE PROGRESSIVE PACKAGE

15 hours dual flying instruction with briefings beforehand and debriefings afterwards and 2 hours ground school. Designed to take you from first solo through solo circuit consolidation and on to the advanced handling exercises of steep turns, practice forced landings, precautionary landings and the great adventure of cross country flight.

4 free exams. Four out of the total of seven exams can be taken for no charge (first attempt at each).

 JAR PPL

This provides the minimum number of flying hours required by the JAR syllabus. Plus comprehensive ground school, all the exams (first attempt at each) and a flight test at the end of the course.

2 1/2 hours flying to cover the skills test.
A package of 15 hours Ground school

Plus no fee for the skills test (first attempt)

This provides the minimum number of flying hours required for the NPPL licence. Plus comprehensive ground school, all the exams (first attempt at each) and a flight test at the end of the course.

A package of 15 hours Ground School

Plus no fees for the General Skills test and Navigation Skills tests (first attempt at each)
